What is the process for registering?
If you received a letter or email from the EPA, much of your registration information has been pre-loaded into CDX for you to verify. To set up your account with CDX, you must do the following:
- If you received a letter from EPA, you will need to access the CDX registration
webpage by navigating to the URL contained in your letter. At this registration
web page you will be prompted for a Customer Retrieval Key (CRK) that is included
in your invitation letter.
If you received an email from EPA, you will need to click the link contained in the email and will not need to manually input the CRK. - Verify the accuracy of the information that was input on your behalf. If your information is inaccurate, you may modify it online.
- Create your user name and password, then select and provide answers to your security questions that our Help Desk can use to verify your identity if you forget your password.
- If you are new to CDX, you will need to create your user name and password, and select security questions that our Help Desk can use to verify your identity if you forget your password.
- If you received a letter/email from EPA but have an existing CDX account, you will be required to login with your username and password which will add the program information to your existing user profile.
If you did not receive a letter/email from the EPA, you can set up a personal account by doing the following: (Note: Some programs are Open, i.e. the user can add the program to their CDX account and have immediate access. Other programs require additional information and approval before they can be accessed. You may be required to send in a letter indicating you are authorized to report for your facility.)
- Access the CDX Homepage at https://cdx.epa.gov.
- Click the "Register with CDX" button.
- Accept the Terms and Conditions for the CDX site.
- Provide your program service, and your role at that program service. Note: You will only be able to register for open program services.
- Provide your user and organization information. You will create your user name and password, and select and provide answers to security questions that our Help Desk can use to verify your identity if you forget your password.
- If necessary, you may need to provide additional information for identity verification
- If necessary, you may need to print and sign an electronic signature agreement (or sponsor letter) for authorization by a designated program office representative. This authorization will allow you to perform your reporting requirements on behalf of an organization or facility. Samples of the sponsor letter are available online.
- If you received a letter from EPA, you will need to access the CDX registration
webpage by navigating to the URL contained in your letter. At this registration
web page you will be prompted for a Customer Retrieval Key (CRK) that is included
in your invitation letter.
-
How long does it take to register with CDX?
Registering for CDX takes as little as 15-20 minutes from start to finish. However, programs with paper subscriber agreements and verification forms via mail can take 5-10 days.
-
Why can I only choose one program to participate in when I register?
When you register, we want to establish or verify your contact information and have you choose your primary program as simply and quickly as possible. Once you have activated your account, you can add other programs that you will be participating in.
To add other program services to your CDX account, you will need to navigate to the MyCDX page and click the "Add New Program Service" button where you will be presented with a list of Programs from which you can choose. -
Do I need a CDX account for each program I wish to use?
No. You can use one CDX account for all of the programs you wish to use. Please see the above question on how to add additional programs.
-
What do I do after registration?
There are two parts to the registration process: core registration and additional verification. All users must complete the core registration process. The additional verification portion of the process is determined by the program office. After you have successfully registered, and your account has been activated, you will be able to access your program's services including the ability to submit your data electronically using CDX according to the program schedule. Upon logging into CDX you will be able to check the status of your access to individual programs from the MyCDX page.
-
How do I submit to CDX?
Using your self-assigned User ID and password, you will log on to CDX. Depending on your program service's submission method, you will be required to either upload the data or complete a web form. At any time, you can change your registration profile to add new program services or roles or change your registration data.
-
Can someone else at my company use my CDX user name and password? If not, how can I designate a back-up?
Do not let anyone else use your CDX user name and password. Sharing your information violates the terms and conditions of the CDX registration; and doing so could result in revocation of your account. If someone else in your company needs to submit information, they can access the CDX registration site at https://cdx.epa.gov. They will be able to register for their own account by clicking the button that says "Register with CDX".
-
How long before my account is activated?
Upon successfully completing your registration, an activation email is sent to your contact email address. Your CDX account is active after you click the activation link contained in this activation email. Following account activation, you will be able to login and may also be granted access to the program area you selected. If the program requires a sponsor letter or digital signature agreement, access to that program area will be on hold until approval is granted by EPA. Upon logging into your CDX you will be able to check the status of your access to individual programs from the MyCDX page.
-
What do I do if I did not receive an activation email?
Check your Spam or Junk mail folders. If you cannot find the email, access the CDX homepage at http://cdx.epa.gov/ and attempt to login with your newly created credentials. You will be displayed a message indicating what email address you registered with, and an opportunity to resend the activation email.
If you are still encountering issues, please contact the Help Desk at 888-890-1995 or (970) 494-5500 for International callers. -
How long is my account active?
Your account will not expire. If you do not use your account for an extended period of time your account may become inactive.
-
What do I do if I forgot my password?
On the account log in page, https://cdx.epa.gov/SSL/CDX/Login.asp?Referer, you will find a link to "Forgot Password?" Click on this link and then follow the steps that are provided. You will need to know the answers to your security questions in order to reset your password. You will be asked to establish a new password. That password will then serve as your permanent password. If you have forgotten the answer to your security questions, you will need to contact the CDX Help Desk at 888-890-1995 or (970) 494-5500 for International callers or helpdesk@epacdx.net.
-
My account appears to be locked. How do I unlock it?
If your account is locked after attempting to log in three times, you can use the same process used to reset a password you forgot. However, if you fail to answer your security question three times in a row, you will need to contact the CDX Help Desk at 888-890-1995 or (970) 494-5500 for International callers or helpdesk@epacdx.net.
-
My password has expired. How can I change it?
CDX passwords automatically expire every 90 days. Upon logging into your CDX account after the password has expired, you are prompted to change it. Alerts related to a soon-to-expire password will also be displayed from your MyCDX page. Changing your password at any time resets its validity period to 90 days from the day the reset occurred.
-
Can I change my security questions and answers?
Yes. You can make changes to the security question and answers selected during registration by logging into your account and accessing your profile under "MyProfile".
